Cara’s Memorial Soccer Game

On June 3, 2021 the Boulder High School Women’s Soccer Team hosted the Cara Calitre Memorial Game to honor and remember their beloved teammate and friend.

While players presented Cara’s parents with gold and purple flowers, her coach, Carlos Real, talked about Cara’s legacy, “Cara was, and always will be, an amazing girl who is remembered for her positive attitude, dependability, impactful attributes and a great shoulder to lean on. Cara exerted confidence, passion and a strong love for the game and for life itself. She will be remembered for her contagious smile, charismatic energy and her kindness towards all, but most importantly a friend who showed unconditional love no matter the circumstance.

Cara’s impact, on and off the field, was felt as soon as she entered the Boulder High Women Soccer Program when she started on the JV team, but within two games was moved onto the varsity team, starting every game and playing every minute after that.”

During the celebration the number 16, the number Cara wore on Varsity, was retired to honor her and her time in Boulder High School’s soccer community. Three of Cara’s jerseys were presented; two were gifted to her family; the home jersey and the longsleeve that was designed to commemorate Cara, and one was given to the school as a reminder of her legacy.

The players wore blue and purple long sleeve jerseys as a reminder of Cara’s favorite color. All the Program’s jerseys now have an emblem of a double C, for her initials, in the shape of an infinity symbol placed on one of the sleeves to celebrate her when we are on the field, home or away.
